The Marshall™ 1960B is the straight-baffle version of the iconic Marshall 4×12 — the "B" designating the straight bottom cab, built to sit on the floor with a slant 1960A above, together forming the classic Marshall stack. The Small Check grill cloth identifies this as a late-1970s or later production unit, the pattern that became Marshall's standard cosmetic from that era onward.
This cabinet is loaded in an X-Pattern — two Celestion™ "ROLA" G12M25 Greenback speakers and two Celestion™ G12M25 Blackback speakers, mounted in alternating diagonal positions. Both share the G12M25 model (25W, medium magnet) but represent different production windows and tonal characters.
The Greenback — identified by its green magnet cover — is the earlier, more open-sounding variant, prized for warm "vocal" midrange and natural breakup. The Blackback variant carries a black magnet cover and slightly tighter cone behavior, delivering a more controlled low-end and a fractionally different resonance peak.
Because both speakers share the same frame and power rating, this X-Pattern combination produces an unusually cohesive blend — the two variants complement rather than contrast each other. Single-mic IRs are not included — this is a mix-only set, capturing the cross-pattern speaker blend at the source, where Greenback and Blackback fuse together inside the same G12M25 frame.
