About the Fender™ Super Reverb · Black Face
4×10 Open-Back Combo · CTS 10″ · Blackface Era 1963–67

The Fender™ Super Reverb is the largest of Fender's open-back 4×10 combo line — introduced in 1963 as part of the Blackface series and produced through 1967. This particular example dates from 1965, the peak of Blackface-era production and one of the most sought-after windows for vintage Fender amps.

The Super Reverb runs four 10-inch speakers in an open-back cabinet — the format that produces the wide, ambient sonic image characteristic of Fender's 4×10 designs. Players including Derek Trucks have long favored the Super Reverb for its clean, natural response. The Blackface lineage carries forward the 4×10 open-back tradition of the Tweed Bassman and the Brownface Concert.

This IR captures the cabinet loaded with its original CTS™ 10-inch speakers from 1965 — the American-made drivers Fender specified for the Super Reverb during the Blackface era. The CTS drivers produce a slightly fuller, warmer midrange than the period Jensen alternatives, contributing one of the defining traits of the Super Reverb's tonal character.

An IR that preserves the open-back cabinet's ambient bloom and the four-driver array's broad dispersion — a foundational reference for American clean, blues, and roots-rock, where the 1960s voice opens out from a single capture.
