The Marshall™ 1960A LEAD is the cabinet that paired with the legendary JCM800 amplifier in the 1980s. The "LEAD" designation indicates higher power handling, built to keep up with the louder, master-volume amps of the era.
This cabinet defined the sound of 1980s hard rock and the early thrash/metal scene. Players like Slash, Zakk Wylde, and an entire generation of metal rhythm guitarists used JCM800 stacks as their workhorse rig.
The "A" designates the slant-front configuration — the angle is intentional, built for stage use. When the cabinet is placed on a riser or behind a player, the slant aims the high frequencies directly at the audience.
Inside are four Celestion™ "ROLA" G12-65 speakers. The G12-65 is the higher-power 65-watt variant — punchier and brighter than the classic Greenback, optimised for the loud, gain-saturated tones of the 80s era. The foundational sound of every iconic Marshall stack from the AC/DC and Guns N' Roses era is built into this single IR.
