The HIWATT™ SE4122 is the closed-back 4×12 cabinet from HIWATT — the British amplifier company founded by Dave Reeves in 1966 and adopted by The Who, Pink Floyd, and other major touring acts of the era.
The SE4122 uses heavy-grade Baltic birch ply with traditional British cabinet-making — a construction approach that produces a tighter, more controlled low end than typical American 4×12 designs while preserving the cabinet's characteristic resonance.
This particular cabinet is loaded with vintage Celestion™ "ROLA" G12M25 Greenback 12-inch speakers — the 25-watt classic Greenback. "ROLA" refers to Celestion's 1970s production era, regarded as the most prized period for the Greenback's aggressive midrange grit and bright top end.
A reference capture for British vintage rock tone: the SE4122's controlled low end paired with the Greenback's mid-forward voicing produces the foundational sound at the heart of 1970s British rock guitar — the same tonal palette that drove the era's most recorded studio albums runs through this single IR.
