The Acoustic™ Model 301 is one of the defining bass cabinets of the 1970s American rock era — produced by Acoustic Control Corporation, the Los Angeles-based company that built bass rigs for the major touring acts of the period.
The 301 is a folded-horn 1×18 enclosure — an unusually large single-driver design that uses the cabinet itself as an acoustic horn to extend low-frequency reach. The format produces the deep, "felt" bass response that characterises 1970s arena bass rigs.
This IR captures the cabinet loaded with its original Cerwin Vega™ AC188L 18-inch speaker — a vintage driver from the golden era of high-output American bass speakers, now extremely difficult to source in working condition.
A historical reference capture preserving the folded-horn cabinet's low-end bloom and the 18" driver's natural compression. Paired with your bass amplifier, this cabinet voice meets the amp's preamp shape and tube or solid-state coloration, and the rounded, sustained low-note palette of 1970s arena bass tone returns to your hands.
