The Fender™ Princeton Reverb is one of the most beloved compact combo amps in American guitar history. The "Black Face" designation refers to Fender's black control panel produced from 1964 to 1967 — the brand's golden-era cosmetic and circuit specification.
Built around two 6V6 power tubes producing approximately 12 watts, the Princeton Reverb became a studio standard precisely because of its modest output: the amp reaches power-tube saturation at recordable volume, a quality larger amps deliver only at much higher SPL.
This IR captures the cabinet paired with a Celestion™ G10S-50 10-inch speaker — Celestion's G10 series, voiced for vintage American clean and edge-of-breakup tones, rated at 50 watts to handle wider dynamic range than the Princeton's original 10-inch driver.
This capture preserves the open-back cabinet's natural air movement and the response of its single-speaker configuration. Paired with a tube amplifier, the cabinet voice meets the amp's tube-driven harmonic content, opening the door to the sound that has supported countless studio recordings from the mid-1960s onward.
